Job Description

The Caregiver is a non-licensed member of the home care team who provides non-medical care to the client in their residence. They are to follow and perform the tasks outlined in the care plan established by the Administrator(s). Companions are supervised by the Administrator(s).

Essential Functions:

  • To enable clients to stay in their homes by monitoring and recording the client’s physical  and mental condition.
  • To maintain a safe, secure and healthy client environment by following necessary standards and procedures.
  • To provide client support and personal services.
  • To protect the home care company by adhering to professional standards, homecare policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • To follow HIPAA guidelines regarding all client information.

 

Responsibility of a Caregiver:

Patient Care:

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Help patients with mobility and transfers as needed.
  • Monitor vital signs and report any significant changes in WellSky.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort at all times.
  • Medication reminders, as outlined in the care plan.
  • Assist in planning and preparing meals and snacks according to the specific dietary requirements outlined in the care plan. If necessary, help with feeding.
