Responsible contractors will be able to assist clients in their homes with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, transferring, toileting, medication reminders.  Caregiver should be competent to check vital signs and report incidents to family.  Driving caregivers will take clients to doctor appointments, errands and social outings.  Caregivers may be directed by client or family to monitor their client's physical or mental condition; level of exercise; how much they are eating, drinking or going to the bathroom.  Caregivers may have to handle emergency situations such as accidents/falls, heart attacks or stroke and must feel confident in handling emergencies.  Must have compassion, good communication skills and attention to detail.  Flexibility, honesty, patience and some medical knowledge is required do do the job well and keep referred clients safe and comfortable.
